What is Naturopathy?

healthfitness.tk- What is Naturopathy? Naturopathy is the professional practice of applying various natural principles and therapies within a consultation with a patient to improve their health and wellbeing. This is done through a consultation, which elicits a detailed case history followed with personal recommendations.

Naturopathy encompasses a broad wholistic philosophy, whereby the practitioner often educates as well as prescribes natural treatments (herbal medicines, nutritional supplements, homeopathics, tissue salts etc) that are individually tailored to strengthen, tonify and / or balance particular organs or systems of the body.

A naturopath will draw on a wide range of modalities, to prescribe the most effective solutions. Most commonly, the fundamental modalities include herbal medicine and nutrition. However, Homeopathy, Iridology, Bach Flowers, Aromatherapy, and Mineral Therapy can also be applied.

Why see a naturopath?

The origins of naturopathy can be traced to ancient Greece, where the “Father of Modern Medicine”, Hippocrates, defined the human organism as a conglomeration of the body, mind and spirit intricately linked to the elements of the natural world.

In our current unbalanced state of the world, it is even more critical that we turn to methods of healing that can compensate and correct some of the resultant underlying dysfunction that our bodies and minds endure in the modern world.

The role of the naturopath is to facilitate this process through espousing a way of life whereby we turn to nature for various simple and wholesome cures; pure water, fresh air, wholesome diet, ingesting functional foods and herbs to heal and exercise to stimulate and maintain a high level of wellbeing.
